Hi everyone! I am a newbie when it comes to Wiki, but I think I am finally starting to catch on to how it all works. I will post my blogs on this page and if anyone would like to comment, I welcome the feedback. PLEASE let me know if I am posting in the incorrect Wiki space. I am looking forward to our convergence in the virtual Wiki-world!

Week 1 - August 25th-31st:

Blog 2 - Going "Second Order"

Blog 3 - Thinking of Linking

Blog 4 - Creative Licensure

Link Pile:

When I reflect on emergence, I think of a collection of efforts or a collaboration of minds surfacing into the world.

I followed these five links in order beginning with the Wikipedia article covering Emergence:

1. Supervenience – I chose this link because I had never heard of the word. According to Wikipedia, supervenience is “a kind dependency relationship.” I can see how this fits with emergence in that one effort or idea feeds upon on another in order to get a collective result.

2. Entities– I chose this link because I was curious to see what Wikipedia had to say regarding “entity.” According to Wikipedia, “is something that has a separate existence” and the word generally refers to a “sense of being.” The word is also “often used to refer to ghosts and other spirits.” Which brings me to my next link!

3. Ghosts – Of course I clicked on this link! Wikipedia has loads of information on ghosts including history, popular culture and scientific explanations.

4. Vengeance – this pulled up a choice of Wikipedia pages, so I chose…

5. Vengeance (concept) – this pulled up a page on revenge. Wikipedia covers a section on “Revenge in Art and Culture.” The page mentions Hamlet, Othello and Titus Andronicus, but neglects to include a link to Shakespeare. Perhaps, an addition of a link to Shakespeare on to the revenge page is a collaborative suggestion? Ah...emergence.

I took this picture when I visited Banff, Canada this summer. This is Peyto Lake.

It is a glacier-fed lake through vallies, mountains and forests and, to me,

represents the most beautiful display of convergence I have ever seen.
