Lesley Dill Impressions
I guess you could say I had no clue on what to expect when walking into the exhibition. I did a little research on Lesley Dill and saw that she seemed to be greatly influenced by the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Now I have read quite a bit of work by Dickinson and it never really inspired me per se, let alone expand on her work with other mediums of art. I always found it a little too depressing. I am more into the whole no regrets and staying positive lifestyle, which I feel I am succeeding in at this point of my life. Anyways back to Lesley Dill. Like I said I had no clue what to expect. Walking into the gallery it felt like I was hit by some force, heavier than anything I can think of, even heavier than that Sleep album Dopesmoker. Now there were two things I noticed about her sculptures, the close attention to detail and the blending of words and phrases, they went hand in hand. It was like watching a tragic film with the words being the narrator. I felt small in a world bigger than I once imagined.
