How do you feel about tattoos? What is your take on them?

I haven't given tattoos much of a thought since I do not have one myself. In order to even consider getting a it seems that you would have to feel very passionate about the subject to wear it for the rest of your life, and I am at a point where that won't be happening anytime soon. In the end I am indifferent on the subject, they really just aren't for me. 

Are tattoos a work of art? 

Yes and no. I feel that art has to have a deep meaning behind it and like it was said in class some people just go to the tattoo artist and choose random pictures from the wall. There is no meaning behind that, they just want to be a part of something. On the other hand, other people have a deep backstory and reason for getting each tattoo on their body, so yes, that is art.
